TREATMENT INFO
Chin dimpling is the puckered or “orange peel” texture that can appear when you move your lower lip or tighten your chin. Anti-wrinkle treatment in this area aims to reduce the muscle activity contributing to the dimpling, helping the chin appear smoother and more relaxed. Please note: All anti-wrinkle and muscle-relaxing treatment appointments are subject to a consultation with our independent nurse prescriber to assess suitability and create a personalised plan with your safety and goals in mind.

Learn more
Chin dimpling is a puckered or uneven texture across the chin, sometimes described as an “orange peel” appearance. It often becomes more noticeable when you tighten your chin, move your lower lip or close your lips together.
This texture can occur when the mentalis muscle, which helps move the lower lip, contracts and pulls on the overlying skin. It differs from a cleft chin, which is a structural feature rather than movement-related puckering.
What it helps
Part of our anti-wrinkle treatments, our chin dimpling treatment may help soften movement-related puckering and reduce the appearance of an overactive chin muscle. It does not add volume or change the underlying bone structure.
We’ll also consider how your chin works alongside your lower lip and mouth, particularly if you notice dimpling when closing your lips.

How it works
Muscle-relaxing treatment reduces activity in selected areas of the mentalis muscle. This can lessen the pull that creates a puckered appearance across the chin.
The aim is to soften excessive movement while taking account of the muscle’s role in lower-lip function. Movement-related puckering is assessed separately from changes associated with facial volume loss.
Our approach
We consider your facial movement, skin and surrounding features to understand what’s contributing to your concern. Your treatment plan is tailored to your anatomy, priorities and goals, with clear advice about the changes treatment may achieve.
Your consultation will be with our in-house independent nurse prescriber, Helen Lada, who will review your medical history, assess suitability and explain your options. Treatment is only carried out where clinically appropriate.
Your questions
An orange peel texture can appear when the mentalis muscle contracts and pulls on the overlying skin. Skin quality and individual anatomy can also influence how noticeable it becomes. Your anti-wrinkle consultation will assess whether muscle activity is contributing to your concern.
No. A cleft chin is a structural feature, whereas movement-related dimpling is linked to muscle activity. Treatment aimed at dimpling does not remove the underlying structure of a cleft chin.
Muscle-relaxing treatment addresses movement. Chin filler adds volume and may be used to alter shape or projection. The appropriate approach depends on your concern and anatomy.
Yes. The chin and lower lip work closely together. We assess their movement together to understand the cause of the dimpling and discuss how treatment could affect the area. If you also notice downturned mouth corners, we can assess whether a separate muscle action is contributing.
