What are skin boosters?

Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to improve the condition and appearance of your skin from within. Rather than changing your facial shape or creating noticeable volume, they focus primarily on qualities such as hydration, texture, firmness and radiance.

You do not need to know which skin booster to book before visiting us. During your consultation, we will assess your skin, listen to what you would like to improve and recommend the most suitable product and treatment plan for you.

Which Skin Boosters do we offer?

At our Skin Techniques clinic in Amersham, we offer the following skin boosters:

Profhilo supports hydration, elasticity and firmer-looking skin.

Juvéderm Skinvive improves hydration, smoothness and overall skin quality.

Seventy Hyal refreshes dull, dehydrated skin on the face or neck.

REVS Pro 32 supports hydration, firmness and a smoother appearance.

We also offer related injectable skin treatments, including:

Polynucleotides for supporting skin repair and improving fine lines, texture and elasticity across the face, eye area, hands, neck and body.

Profhilo Structura for supporting facial structure and addressing age-related changes through the mid and lower face.

Areas

Where can skin boosters be used?

Skin boosters can be used on several areas where the skin may appear dehydrated, crepey, less firm or uneven in texture.

Not every skin booster is designed for every treatment area. During your consultation at our Amersham clinic, we will assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate product and treatment plan for you.

Depending on the product and your individual suitability, we can treat:

FACE

NECK

Décolletage

HANDS

What they help

What can skin boosters help with?

Skin boosters can help improve skin that looks dehydrated, dull, tired or less firm than it once did. Depending on the product and treatment area, they may be suitable for:

Dehydrated or dry-looking skin

Dullness and a lack of radiance

Fine lines and crepey-looking skin

Rough or uneven skin texture

Reduced firmness and elasticity

Early signs of skin ageing

Dehydrated or ageing skin on the neck

Skin boosters will not be the right treatment for every concern. If your main concern involves facial volume, expression lines or more noticeable skin laxity, we may recommend a different treatment or a personalised combination of treatments.

How they work

How do skin boosters actually work?

Skin boosters place small amounts of a specially selected hyaluronic acid formulation beneath the skin’s surface. Hyaluronic acid attracts and retains water, helping the treated skin appear more hydrated, smooth and refreshed.

Different skin boosters work in slightly different ways. Some primarily focus on hydration and texture, while others are designed to support firmness, elasticity and the skin’s natural renewal processes. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, they are not generally used to reshape facial features or create noticeable volume.

We will select the most appropriate product, injection technique and treatment plan after assessing your skin and discussing the results you would like to achieve.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about skin boosters

How many skin booster treatments do you need?

Most people need between one and three initial appointments, although the recommended course depends on the product and your skin. Some treatments are designed as a course, while others may provide their intended result after one session.

We will explain the complete recommended course, spacing and maintenance schedule during your consultation so you understand the overall commitment and cost before beginning.

Is a skin booster better than anti-wrinkle injections?

Neither treatment is universally better because they address different concerns. Skin boosters primarily improve hydration, texture and overall skin quality, while anti-wrinkle injections temporarily reduce the muscle movement responsible for certain expression lines.

Some clients may benefit from one treatment, while others may be suitable for both. We will recommend an approach based on your skin and facial assessment rather than automatically favouring one treatment.

What’s the best skin booster on the market?

There is no single best skin booster for everyone. Profhilo, Juvéderm Skinvive, Seventy Hyal and REVS Pro 32 have different qualities, protocols and areas for which they may be recommended.

When you visit Skin Techniques in Amersham, we will consider your skin quality, treatment area, concerns and desired result before recommending a product. The best skin booster is the one most appropriate for your individual skin.

Are skin boosters worth the money?

Skin boosters may be worthwhile if you want to improve hydration, texture and radiance without significantly changing your facial features. Their value depends on your skin, expectations and willingness to maintain your results.

At our Amersham clinic, we will explain what a skin booster can realistically achieve before you decide whether to proceed. If we believe another treatment would be more suitable for your concerns, we will tell you.

Are skin boosters better than filler?

Skin boosters and dermal fillers perform different roles. Skin boosters primarily improve hydration, texture and skin quality, whereas dermal fillers are generally used to restore volume, enhance definition or support facial structure.

If you are unsure which option you need, we can assess your face and skin at our Amersham clinic. In some cases, the treatments can complement one another as part of a carefully planned approach.
