What are facials and skin rejuvenation treatments?

Facials and skin rejuvenation treatments are non-surgical treatments designed to care for the skin’s surface and overall appearance. Depending on the facial selected, treatment may include cleansing, exfoliation, hydration, resurfacing or carefully chosen skin technologies.

At Skin Techniques, we offer everything from personalised Dermalogica facials to technology-led treatments such as hydrodermabrasion, LED light therapy and carbon laser peels.

You do not need to know which facial to book before visiting us. If you are unsure, choose our Skin Analysis and Facial appointment. We will examine your skin, listen to your concerns and recommend a suitable treatment.

Which facials and skin rejuvenation treatments do we offer?

Skin Analysis and Facial - This is the best starting point if you are unsure which facial to choose. Jess will assess your skin, discuss what you would like to improve and recommend an appropriate facial.

Dermalogica Pro 60 - A personalised, 60-minute facial tailored to your skin on the day. It can include Skin Mapping, deep cleansing, resurfacing, extractions where required, targeted professional products and a personalised homecare plan.

Hydra-Diamond Glass Facial - Combines hydrodermabrasion and diamond microdermabrasion with hydration to cleanse and exfoliate the skin. Suitable for skin that appears dull, dry, rough or congested and for clients wanting a smoother, brighter-looking complexion with little downtime.

Carbon Laser Peel - Considered for oily or congested-looking skin, visible pores, uneven texture and a dull complexion. A consultation and laser patch test are required before your first treatment.

LuminFusion - Combines a targeted eye peel, professional retinol and hydroxy acids, NanoInfusion technology and red LED light. Designed for clients concerned about dullness, dehydration, uneven texture or a tired-looking complexion. Temporary redness may occur, although downtime is generally minimal.

Cryo 21 Hollywood Glow - Combines cooling facial technology, oxygen infusion and gentle enzymatic exfoliation. It is intended to leave the complexion feeling refreshed and hydrated and may help reduce the appearance of temporary puffiness. It can be a popular option before an event or as part of an ongoing skincare routine.

LED Light Therapy - A non-invasive treatment using selected wavelengths of light as part of a personalised skin plan. It can be booked alone or added to selected facials. We will recommend an appropriate setting and explain what LED can realistically offer for your skin.

Direct High-Frequency Therapy - Uses a specialised glass electrode to deliver a gentle electrical current across selected areas of the skin. It may be considered for oily, congested or blemish-prone skin and can also complement certain facial treatments. We will assess active breakouts and skin sensitivity before recommending it.

What they help

What can facials and skin rejuvenation treatments help with?

The right facial will depend on your skin type, current condition and the results you would like to work towards. Our treatments may support improvements in the appearance of:

Dull or tired-looking skin

Dry or dehydrated skin

Rough or uneven skin texture

Congested or blemish-prone skin

Excess surface oil

Visible or congested-looking pores

Uneven-looking skin tone

Fine, dry-looking lines

Temporary facial puffiness

Skin in need of a refreshed appearance

Facials cannot diagnose or treat an underlying medical skin condition. If we notice something that requires medical assessment, we may recommend that you speak to your GP, dermatologist or another appropriate healthcare professional.

How they work

How do facials and skin rejuvenation treatments work?

Different facials work in different ways. Some focus on removing surface debris and dead skin cells, while others deliver hydration, use light or gentle electrical technology, or combine several stages within one appointment.

Your facial may include:

  • A detailed skin analysis
  • Cleansing and skin preparation
  • Gentle or more targeted exfoliation
  • Hydration and professional skincare products
  • Extractions where appropriate
  • Light, cooling or electrical technology
  • Advice about caring for your skin at home

We will select the most appropriate facial, products and treatment techniques after assessing your skin and discussing the results you would like to achieve.

Which to choose

How do we choose the right facial for you?

We begin by listening to what you have noticed about your skin and what you would like your facial to achieve. We will also consider factors such as sensitivity, current skincare, recent treatments and upcoming events.

A deeply cleansing or resurfacing facial may suit congested-looking skin, while a hydration-focused treatment may be more appropriate for dryness or dehydration. If your skin is sensitive or reactive, we can recommend a gentler approach.

If you are completely new to professional facials, our Skin Analysis and Facial appointment is the ideal place to start. You can receive professional advice without having to select a treatment in advance.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about skin rejuvenation

Which facial is best for my skin?

The best facial depends on your skin type, sensitivity and what you would like to address. If you are unsure, book our Skin Analysis and Facial appointment in Amersham. We will assess your skin before recommending a suitable option.

Which facial is best for brighter, glowing skin?

Several treatments are designed to refresh dull-looking skin, including the Hydra-Diamond Glass Facial, LuminFusion, Cryo 21 Hollywood Glow and Carbon Laser Peel. The most appropriate choice will depend on whether your skin would benefit most from hydration, exfoliation, resurfacing or a combination.

How often should I have a facial?

This depends on the facial and your individual skin. Some clients book an occasional facial before an event, while others follow a regular treatment plan. We will recommend an appropriate interval without encouraging unnecessary treatment.

Can I have a facial if my skin is sensitive?

Sensitive skin does not automatically prevent you from having a facial, but the products, exfoliation and technology must be chosen carefully. Please tell us about sensitivity, allergies, medications and previous reactions before treatment.

Is there any downtime after a facial?

Many facials involve little or no downtime, although temporary redness, dryness or sensitivity can occur. Laser and more intensive resurfacing treatments may require additional aftercare. We will explain the expected recovery before your appointment.
