What is Microneedling with Exosomes?

Microneedling with Exosomes combines professional microneedling with an exosome-based topical product applied as part of the treatment protocol.

The microneedling element creates controlled micro-channels and prompts the skin’s natural renewal response. The selected topical formulation is incorporated during and following treatment to complement the procedure and support the skin as it recovers.

At Skin Techniques, we offer two options:

Dermalogica ExoBooster Microneedling uses Dermalogica’s vegan lactobacillus exosome formulation alongside its professional recovery protocol. Treatment starts from £330.

SkyMedic Exosome Microneedling combines microneedling with a selected SkyMedic topical protocol. Treatment starts from £450.

We will assess your skin before explaining which option may be more appropriate.

How it works

How does Exosomes Microneedling work?

Microneedling creates tiny, controlled micro-channels in the skin. These activate its natural repair response and support the production of collagen and elastin.

A selected exosome-based product is applied topically as part of the microneedling protocol. It is not injected. The formulation used will depend on whether we recommend the Dermalogica ExoBooster or SkyMedic option.

Your skin may initially appear red or feel warm and tight. Improvements in texture and overall skin quality develop gradually over the following weeks as the skin renews.

Our approach

Our personalised approach to microneedling

Not all microneedling treatments do the same thing. Some focus on controlled skin renewal, while others combine microneedling with polynucleotides or topical exosome-based products. Skin-Tox Booster uses a related skin-stamping technique for a gentler, skin-conditioning treatment.

At Skin Techniques, we take time to understand your skin before recommending a treatment. We consider its condition, sensitivity and the concerns you would like to improve, then explain which protocol may be most appropriate and why. Your plan is built around you—you do not need to know exactly what to book.

Your questions

Common questions

What are exosomes in a microneedling treatment?

Exosomes are very small structures involved in communication between cells. Different cosmetic products use different sources and formulations.

At Skin Techniques, they are used within selected professional topical protocols alongside microneedling. We will explain the exact product being used before treatment.

Are exosomes injected during the treatment?

No. The exosome-based product is applied topically as part of the microneedling protocol. The microneedling device creates controlled micro-channels, but the exosome formulation itself is not injected.

We will explain every stage of the procedure during your consultation.

What is the difference between Dermalogica ExoBooster and SkyMedic?

They are different professional product protocols with different formulations and price points. Dermalogica ExoBooster uses vegan lactobacillus exosomes and starts from £330. The SkyMedic protocol starts from £450.

We will recommend an option after considering your skin condition, sensitivity and treatment priorities.

What is the downtime after Microneedling with Exosomes?

Your skin may appear red, warm or sensitive for approximately 24–48 hours. Temporary tightness, dryness or light flaking may occur as it settles.

You will receive aftercare instructions explaining which products to use and what to avoid following treatment.
