TREATMENT INFO
A lip flip aims to make more of the upper lip visible by reducing the muscle activity that draws it inwards. This can create a subtle change in its appearance, particularly when smiling, without adding the volume associated with lip filler. Please note: All anti-wrinkle and muscle-relaxing treatment appointments are subject to a consultation with our independent nurse prescriber to assess suitability and create a personalised plan with your safety and goals in mind.

Learn more
A lip flip uses muscle-relaxing treatment around selected parts of the upper lip to alter how it moves. It may be considered when the upper lip rolls inwards or becomes less visible during smiling.
The effect is generally subtle. It does not add volume or offer the same changes in shape and structure as filler.
What it helps
A lip flip may help make more of the upper lip visible where muscle movement causes it to tuck inwards.
Your assessment will consider your lip shape at rest, your smile and how you use the muscles around your mouth. Your daily activities also matter, particularly if they rely on precise lip control.

How it works
Treatment reduces selected activity in the muscle surrounding the mouth. This can allow more of the upper lip to remain visible instead of rolling inwards during expression.
Because this muscle also supports everyday functions, the potential cosmetic change must be considered alongside the risk of altered lip control.
Our approach
We consider your facial movement, skin and surrounding features to understand what’s contributing to your concern. Your treatment plan is tailored to your anatomy, priorities and goals, with clear advice about the changes treatment may achieve.
Your consultation will be with our in-house independent nurse prescriber, Helen Lada, who will review your medical history, assess suitability and explain your options. Treatment is only carried out where clinically appropriate.
Your questions
Your lip shape and muscle movement can cause the upper lip to roll inwards when smiling. An assessment during your muscle-relaxing treatment consultation can help establish whether this movement is likely to respond to treatment.
A lip flip changes selected muscle activity. Lip filler adds volume and can alter lip shape or definition. The appropriate option depends on the change you want and your anatomy.
It does not add volume. By making more of the upper lip visible, it may create the appearance of a subtle change in fullness. If your concern relates to facial volume loss affecting the lips, we’ll explain why a different approach may be more appropriate.
A lip flip and smoker’s lines treatment have different aims, even though they involve the same general area. We’ll assess lip movement and skin quality before discussing whether either approach is suitable.
