TREATMENT INFO
If hollowness beneath your eyes is making the area look more tired, tear trough filler may help soften the shadow. We’ll assess the cause of your concern and explain whether it’s right for you.

Learn more
The tear trough is the groove that runs from the inner corner of your eye towards the upper cheek. When this area becomes more hollow, it can cast a shadow beneath the eye. Tear trough filler adds carefully placed volume to soften that hollow and create a smoother transition into the cheek.
Under-eye concerns can have several causes, so we take time to understand what you’re noticing before recommending treatment. At our Amersham clinic, we assess the skin, lower eyelid and surrounding cheek support. Tear trough filler is one of our dermal filler treatments, but it won’t be the right option for every type of dark circle or under-eye change.
What it helps
Tear trough filler may help when the area beneath your eyes looks hollow or sunken, particularly where the hollow creates a noticeable shadow. The aim is to soften the groove while keeping the natural character of your eye area.
It won’t directly treat pigmentation and may be unsuitable if puffiness, eye bags or fluid retention are your main concern. Where crepey skin or changes in skin quality are more noticeable than hollowness, a different approach may be more appropriate. Sometimes the surrounding cheek volume also needs consideration, so we may discuss cheek filler before recommending treatment beneath the eyes.
Lines that fan out from the outer corners of the eyes when you smile are a separate concern from tear trough hollowness. Crow’s feet treatment focuses on the muscle movement contributing to these expression lines, while tear trough filler addresses suitable cases of hollowing beneath the eyes.

How it works
Filler is placed beneath the skin to reduce the depth of the under-eye hollow. Small changes can be noticeable in this delicate area, so we use a considered approach and plan the amount around your anatomy and existing support.
Different under-eye concerns need different approaches. We’ll explain what filler may achieve for yours and allow the area time to settle before assessing the result or considering any further treatment.
Our approach
At Skin Techniques, we specialise in a personalised, full-face approach to dermal fillers. You might come to us with a particular treatment in mind, but the area you notice isn’t always the only place we need to consider.
Changes in volume, skin quality and the support around your features can all contribute to the same concern. Sometimes treating one area is appropriate; sometimes a combination of treatments may be more helpful.
We take time to understand what is causing your concern and how your features work together before recommending a treatment plan. You don’t need to know exactly what to book—we’ll explain the options and help you decide on an approach that suits your face and what you’d like to achieve.
Your questions
It may improve shadows caused by under-eye hollowness. Dark circles caused by pigmentation, thin skin or other factors may remain. This is why we assess the cause rather than recommending the same treatment for everyone with dark circles.
Visible results may last around 6–18 months, sometimes longer. Filler can remain even when the appearance of the area changes, so we recommend an assessment before any top-up. More filler isn’t automatically needed when a particular number of months has passed.
If puffiness, fluid retention or prominent eye bags are your main concern, a different approach may be more appropriate. Your skin, medical history and any previous filler also matter. We’ll assess your under-eye concerns and explain whether filler is likely to help.
Tear trough filler is £440. The final cost depends on your recommended treatment plan and the amount required. We’ll establish whether filler is appropriate, explain the proposed approach and confirm the full price before treatment.
